Pokémon Go made an eye-watering $65 million for Niantic last month, which is a 15 percent growth over April 2018’s takings, according to Sensortower.

The figure means that Pokémon Go’s total takings for the year is up nearly 33 percent in the first four months of the year from the previous year, with approximately $270 million being made from the game on the App Store and Google Play.

The earnings are likely to come from the multitude of events that Pokémon Go has been offering in recent weeks, which has lead to the spawning of rare Shiny Pokémon over holiday periods like Easter. Another event is also currently underway for the game to coincide with the launch of the Detective Pikachu movie.

These events usually offer special offers on the store that can give trainers special items for a fraction of the original price. The spawning of Shiny AIpom is sure to affect people’s wallets as well.

Should the trend continue, Pokémon Go is likely to see more records shattered over the next few months and with two Pokémon Go Fests on the horizon in Chicago, US and Dortmund, Germany, things are definitely looking good for Niantic and The Pokémon Company over the year.
