Electronic Arts and PopCap Games announced Plants vs. Zombies 3, a brand new game in the franchise for mobile devices. The title is already available in a pre-alpha state for select Android players in the United States and will soon release around the world.

The game is launching in this pre-release form so that the studio can test the combat features, and the client currently available in the US Play Store. The current build will differ from the final version. At this stage, the title is said to be “a first look at the early development of PvZ 3.”

As for the full release, PopCap said “we’re still testing different features of PvZ 3 and can’t wait to show you more! We want to make sure we have everything ready and in tip-top shape, for you to enjoy, so we’ll let you know when we have a worldwide release date.”

Progress will get reset multiple times by the time of the launch. But at this moment microtransactions are not available for purchase, so you won’t spend money on things that will disappear anytime soon.

To play, you’ll need an Android device that is at least a Galaxy S7 or higher for specs, with Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) or higher to play.

“Unfortunately,” the team added, “the PvZ 3 Pre-Alpha is unavailable for players on iOS at this time.”

Just in case you’re a fan of Plants vs. Zombies, remember there’s a new Garden Warfare game in development for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. It should launch this year together alongside the next Need for Speed title from Electronic Arts.
