As reported by NPD Group’s Mat Piscatella, Nintendo Switch has been the best selling console platform over March in the United States.

On top of that, in the same territory, Switch has been the best selling console platform over the entire first quarter in 2019, both in dollar and unit sales.

“Hardware spending in March 2019 fell 15 percent when compared to a year ago, to $282 million; and first quarter hardware spending declined 13 percent to $759 million,” has also shared Piscatella.

That’s quite predictable since we’re getting close to the end of Xbox One and PlayStation 4 lifecycle, with new console expected to release in 2020 and PS5 even being already teased.

That’s something Nintendo is trying and limiting with the release of two different models, rumored to be coming as soon as this year.

As for game sales, The Division 2 was the best selling one in March in the United States, preceding Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and MLB 19: The Show, which is always very well performing over that territory on PS4.

It’s worth noting that The Division 2 is now the second best selling game of 2019, with launch month sales being the sixth highest in the history of Ubisoft-published titles.
