Nintendo Switch Sales Were Slower Than Anticipated During The Last Quarter

Nintendo has shared more information about Nintendo Switch shipments as part of the reveal of financial results for the latest quarter. Surprisingly, the numbers are less impressive than anticipated.
Indeed, in the three months going from April 1, 2018 to June 30, 2018, Nintendo Switch hardware has reached the 19.67 million units sold milestone, which means the consoles has shipped 1.88 million during the quarter.
It’s quite a slower pace than expected, if you consider that Sony has shipped 3.2 million PlayStation 4s during the last quarter and Nintendo Switch has managed to sell 430.000 more units in comparison with the competitor in the previous.
As part of the financial results, Nintendo also shared all the information about the 3DS family, including 2DS and New 2DS XL, which has reached 72.89 million units shipped overall. Wii U lifetime sales have reached 13.56.
We’re very distant from what one would call a disappointing quarter for Nintendo, but it’s clear that, considering the previous quarter sales, you could expect something more.
Looking at sales in Japan, where Switch is still doing phenomenal things in terms of shipments each week, you could consider that sales are a bit slower than anticipated around the rest of the world, in Europe and North America.
