This means that Switch has shipped 5.67 million units between April and June, keeping a very strong pace compared to other platforms.

Just a few days ago, we reported a new milestone for PS4, which reached 112.3 million consoles shipped, and that was achieved shipping 1.9 million units in that period. However, Nintendo Switch has shipped around three times the number of consoles in that window, which clearly gives us an idea of how successful the platform is.

Overall, Switch has proved much more compelling for gamers than Microsoft’s Xbox One, whose sales have been beaten in just 34 months.

Nintendo Wii has also been outpaced in Japan, where the system turned to be more successful than previous systems from the firm.

Games sold for the system (406.67 million) have also kept an impressive pace, outselling those for Nintendo 3DS, the previous console from the Japanese producer.

Nintendo plans on shipping 19 million Switch consoles in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2021, which would mean reaching a grand total of 74.77 million.

This milestone seems to be at hand for the platform holder, as the pace of sales doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon, and we are about to reach the Holiday season.
