Nintendo Switch Online coming in late September

Nintendo has continued to share surprisingly little about its upcoming Nintendo Switch Online subscription service, but we at least we have a window now.
The Nintendo of America Twitter account announced this morning that the upcoming service will be launching in the last half of September.
The online subscription service was fist announced last January, and it was initially set to debut this summer. Around June, the big N pushed it back to 2018, and fans have been waiting to hear more about it ever since. We do know a bit about what it’ll offer when it does finally debut.
For one, it will allow “access to online play & Save Data Cloud backup” with various “compatible” games, as well as a rotating set of NES titles with online play. This will essentially take the place of the beloved Virtual Console, though with extra benefits. Multiplayer classics like Dr. Mario and Balloon Fight will feature online functions.
Memberships will be available in three different tiers, with one month costing $3.99, three months for $7.99, and a year for just $19.99, making it a lot more affordable than their rivals at Xbox Gold and PlayStation Plus.
The service will be required if you want to play online with games like Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Tennis Aces, and the rest of the online-capable games out there for the Switch. Up until this point, these games have been free to take online, so it seems the free ride is ending.
