Microsoft’s next-generation consoles may be arriving as soon as 2020, a new report from news site Thurrott claims.

The next generation’s Xbox, codenamed “Scarlett,” appears to be set for 2020 and will be designed as a “family of devices,” Thurrott’s Brad Sams says in his report. If so, that would mean the Xbox’s next generation would involve multiple different hardware creations or available devices in 2020, not just one Xbox console alone. Sams called the information he saw “authentic.”

“As with any leak this far out, timing and plans can change but I was able to verify the information I viewed as being authentic and fully believe that the company is on-track to release the new console in two years,” Sams wrote in his report.

Earlier during E3 2018, Bethesda unveiled two new next-generation games, Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI. Other announced games, such as Cyberpunk 2077, may become next-generation titles, although it remains unclear for now if that will be the case.

While Microsoft has not yet confirmed “Scarlett” as an upcoming Xbox console or consoles, Xbox’s head Phil Spencer announced during E3 2018 that the Xbox One X’s engineering team is “deep into architecting the next Xbox consoles” at the moment. Spencer refused to announce any other details. While the world eagerly awaits the next generation of consoles, it remains unclear when Sony, Microsoft, or any other hardware developers will usher in the next console era.

At the very least, expect more information from Xbox in the next two years.
