A couple of days ago, Electronic Arts and Ghost Games announced Need for Speed Heat. We’ve known it was in the making for quite a long time, but the title has not shown up until now. The reveal only featured a trailer and tiny details on gameplay, though.

Luckily enough, an EA community manager went to Reddit and detailed exciting pieces of news about how the next title in the arcade racing franchise is shaping up. They gave out more details about the title before it releases late this year in November.

According to the community manager, the game won’t feature any loot box anytime soon. The current plan is that “there won’t be” at any stage of its lifecycle. Also, we can expect to see real-world parts are in the game, similarly to Need for Speed 2015 and Payback (whose Speed Cards are now gone).

There’s something more about the way Ghost Games plans on handling the title’s post-release period. “We plan to have post-launch paid-DLC in the form of car packs,” which is the way the Forza and Gran Turismo franchises have been doing all along. “Later this year, we’ll introduce a time-save pack, that will show all collectibles on the map,” which is similar to Battlefield.

As for gameplay, we learned that we’re going to see more details during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live on Aug. 19, 2019. We’re going to see more gameplay details about Need for Speed Heat beyond what we saw during the initial trailer.

There we’ll get more on “cops, day and night events, the garage, customization, and our brand new handling model.”
