In addition to setting Pokémon Go’s new social and trading features live today, Niantic also pushed another update through. The Legendary Pokémon Regice is now available in Raid Battles beginning today. Regice is the first of three Legendary Pokémon from the Hoenn region that will be joining the game over the next few months.

The Iceberg Pokémon woke from a particularly deep slumber to hammer away at trainers as part of challenging Raid Battles all over the world, up until July 19. Regice is an Ice-type Pokémon with high defense levels, but your Fire, Rock, Fighting, and Steel Pokémon can take it on by exploiting its weaknesses.

Both Regirock and Registeel will be hitting Gyms later this summer when Niantic rolls out additional Legendary Raid Battles in the coming weeks. Once Regice leaves the game, it’s gone—at least until it’s rolled out again for another special event in the future.

Pokémon Go continues to add new content every few weeks it seems, with the aforementioned trading, gifting, and friends features now available. There are also regular Community Days, with Squirtle up for grabs during the next one for a very short window of time. Pokémon Go has proven to be a title that can roll with the punches and improve based on player feedback, but it’s still not quite at the level many players want it to be.

These new Raid Battles are still cool and useful additions to the free-to-play title, however, as more and more features are eventually fleshed out.
