In the latest Halo Waypoint blog post, we learned several pieces of information about the world of Halo and the multiple releases ahead. As we’ve already reported, 343 Industries has let us know that the Halo Reach beta is coming next week to the PC platform after a few delays.

Also, the studio based in Seattle has spent a little time to talk about Halo Infinite and wrap all the information we have about the game up. As you can see, something is interesting in this summary that is worth discussing:

  • Release date: Holiday 2020 release for the entire Xbox family of devices, including Project Scarlett and Windows PCs
  • When does it take place in the universe: It follows the Master Chief’s story sometime after Halo 5: Guardians’ conclusion
  • LAN: Halo Infinite will support LAN
  • Splitscreen: Splitscreen is up and running internally
  • Back in Black: Black undersuits will be in the game
  • Flighting Programs: These opt-in flights will start small and slowly expand out until release
  • PC: Flighting may come a little bit later for PC players, but we’re treating it as a first-class citizen
  • Player Customization: If you liked the level armor customization options in Halo: Reach, you will be pleased
  • SR 152: Players who hit SR 152 in Halo 5: Guardians will receive a token of appreciation in Halo Infinite
  • Pro Team: There is an internal Pro Team for Halo Infinite

We learn that the flighting program for Halo Infinite, which had already been announced at the original reveal, will be focusing first on the console version of the game; so, a beta, whenever it is ready, will come first to Xbox One next year.

We also learn that the split-screen mode, which has been missing in Halo 5 Guardians and was already announced as part of the package in Infinite, is “up and running internally,” so work on that is already well ahead.

Halo Infinite is coming to Xbox One, Windows 10 PC and Project Scarlett in the holiday 2020 season.
