Halo fans concerned where Halo Infinite will fit in with the rest of the Halo lore, 343’s Jeff Easterling has offered an interesting nugget of information: Halo Infinite is essentially Halo 6.

Easterling confirmed this during a broadcast on Mixer, where he stated simply, “It is Halo 6.”

“Don’t think of it as a weird prequel kind of thing,” Easterling said. “It’s the next story. It’s the next chapter in what is going on.”

There hasn’t been a lot of information floating around about the game since its extremely brief announcement trailer during Microsoft’s E3 2018 showcase. Since then, much of what we’ve learned about the game has come from Easterling himself, such as the fact that there isn’t going to be a battle royale mode.

Previously, 343 Industries’ Chris Lee had already stated that the game will act as a direct sequel to Halo 5: Guardians, but there wasn’t any elaboration on exactly when or how, only that it will focus heavily on Master Chief.

Built on the new Slipspace Engine, the game is in development by 343 Industries and is targeting a release on Xbox One and PC, though there’s no hard release date yet.
