Gran Turismo Sport has had quite a troubled start due to its prominent online and in-progress nature but has been able to improve a lot over the years thanks to Polyphony Digital and Sony’s dedication to the project.

The latest update has even added the rain weather condition after so much time the game had released, to give you an idea of how much effort the Japanese team is pouring on the latest Gran Turismo despite PS4’s lifecycle is approaching an end.

Anyway, this continued support hasn’t prevented Polyphony from working on a brand new chapter, which is already in development as shared by studio head Kazunori Yamauchi during a recent interview about the state of the franchise.

“I think in terms of races themselves, and physics GT Sport has really reached the best place that we’ve ever reached – we’re at a very good place,” Yamauchi said in the first place, sharing how much he is satisfied with the work done on the latest game.

“On the other hand, obviously we’re working on the next Gran Turismo already, and the world of sport we’ve achieved through GT Sport is something I’ve always imagined to be the future of Gran Turismo. We were able to establish that now.”

“I think the next title that we’re going to create will be a combination of the past, present, and future – a complete form of Gran Turismo,” he also added, which is kind of a teaser of more single-player content being implemented in the future title on top of the online infrastructure built with Sport.

It’s good to hear such things from Yamauchi since Gran Turismo is one of the historic brands in gaming and as a long time fan of the medium you want to see it being successful all over the place. Hopefully, they’ll get all the feedback provided thus far on Sport and make Gran Turismo 7, or whatever it is called like, a better game since day one.
