Sony and Santa Monica Studio have announced that God of War has sold over 3.1 million copies, both digital and physical, in just three days of availability (April 20-22) on the store shelves and on PlayStation Store.

“When we first revealed God of War less than two years ago, we knew we had something truly special. Fans reacted with tremendous excitement to this bold reimagining of the franchise, and we were thrilled to explore the unique father-son dynamic between Kratos and Atreus,” Asad Qizilbash Vice President, Marketing, SIEA said on PlayStation Blog.

Thanks to this achievement, God of War has become the fastest-selling first party title on PlayStation 4, beating the likes of Horizon: Zero Dawn and reaching a new height when it comes to exclusive games.

For comparison (according to the details shared by Daniel Ahmad: Analyst at Nico Partners), Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End sold 2.7 million units in the first week, Horizon Zero Dawn sold 2.6 million units in first two weeks, The Last of Us shipped 3.4 million units in first three weeks on PlayStation 3.
