There are a lot of fans of Hideo Kojima out there. Some of these fans are people he works with who end up adoring the Japanese game director and designer. One of these is popular voice actor Troy Baker who plays Higgs in the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive Death Stranding.

Higgs was revealed through a brief trailer last year at the Tokyo Game Show, even though back then he was known as the man in the golden mask. In the latest trailer that includes the game’s release date, the character received a new name and additional context.

“It’ll definitely be a statement,” Baker said to Push Square. “If you know anything about Kojima, he doesn’t make ‘games.’ He’s an amazing world builder. He’s trying to move the medium forward, not just trying to move copies.”

According to Baker, the game won’t be a simple game after all, as there is a vast “world” built around it. There’s a chance that Kojima himself has crafted this as a brand new franchise in the vein of Metal Gear, even though it’s a bit too early to say that.

Death Stranding releases on Nov. 8, 2019, for PlayStation 4 and Sony Interactive Entertainment publishes it. It’s built around Guerrilla Games’ Decima Engine, even though rumors have pointed out that the title could release one day on PC as well.
