While people who expected to learn a release date for the game at E3 2019 were disappointed, Cyberpunk 2077 is shaping up to be one hell of a game. In the game play demo that we got to see on stage at Microsoft showcase, we got to see all kinds of features, characters, and locations in the game. And Keanu “Goddamn” Reeves is in it! They also confirmed the release date, which is set for April 16, 2020.

CD Projekt Red seems to be running for a similar form of emotive storytelling that we all got used to in The Witcher 3. After watching his friend die, the protagonist then has to take on the people who sent him on a job as they attempt to double cross him.

Graphically, the game looks stunning, sitting in a slightly neon futuristic style with just a hint of dirt and grime, just like the great visionaries of the ’80s foresaw. It also seems to embrace the truest extremes of the dystopian future, the utter opulence of those in power, and the devastating poverty of those in thrall.

Based on the tabletop RPG game Cyberpunk 2020, Mike Pondsmith, the original creator of the Cyberpunk game has teamed up with CD Projekt Red to bring his vision to the game. While it had been hoped that the game would be released this year, it seems that instead, we will get to enjoy Cyberpunk being released in 2020.
