We’ve already discussed the Pareto Securities Gaming Seminar 2018 event where CD Projekt RED had a prominent role, disclosing some details about the past (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt) and hinting at the future with Cyberpunk 2077.

A new detail has slipped today from the conference, suggesting it might take a bit longer for the game to release or, at the very least, it could come at a later stage of its life – so after the original launch – with a brand new version.

Cyberpunk 2077 Confirmed For PlayStation 5

According to a slide presented by CDPR’s Piotr Nielubowicz and Adam Kicinski, the Polish studio is building Cyberpunk 2077 on “current and next-generation technology”, which means it is meant to support not only PS4 and Xbox One, but also future consoles such as a hypothetical PS5 and a next Xbox.

Of course, CD Projekt RED might be hinting at future GPUs and computer technology, and that would be less relevant if you consider how fast the PC gaming scene evolves nowadays.

However, the RPG is launching on consoles as well, so we can’t rule out the hypothesis that it could be coming to PS4/Xbox One and PS5/next Xbox upon the same day one with a cross-generational release. This, or something at a later stage as it happened, e.g., with GTA V.

Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t have a release date yet. The game is said to be more ambitious than The Witcher 3 and is set to offer 50-60 hours of gameplay.
