Thanks to an interview with Spanish website AreaJugones, and the hard work of Redditor AguanteTheWitcher, we have some interesting information about Cyperpunk 2077, the upcoming game from CD Projekt Red. AreaJugones traveled to Warsaw for an interview with Mateusz Tomaszkiewics, the game’s Quest Director, while AguanteTheWitcher was kind enough to translate the article and post it to Reddit for the rest of us to enjoy.

When asked about how different the game is to the gameplay demo shown last year, Mateusz had this to say;

As we know, the game is still in development and obviously I want it to be the best it could when it’s ready. We are constantly polishing and thinking how make the game more interesting, who make the gameplay more cool and, well, the demo shown last year was only a small fragment of the actual game. There wasn’t a clear picture of how the game fits into an open world or how it fits into a larger image of the game. So, there are many stuff that we didn’t show yet, there are many things that we are still working on. I would say that the game is pretty different to what we shown last year but there are many details that we are currently working on.

This makes a lot of sense, as games in development can be incredibly fluid, with major systems being added in and removed from build to build. Without wishing to put words in Mateusz’s mouth, I also get the impression that he was trying to remind us that the gameplay we have seen was just a small part of a much bigger game, that will be filled with all kinds of activities for us to do.

During the interview, Mateusz also talks about the teams to desire to create strong characters that would resonate with players, especially after working with fan favorites like Geralt and Ciri. If you have been hungry for news, then the whole interview is definitely worth reading. We will keep you updated on any more Cyberpunk 2077 as it breaks.
