With the Origins soft reboot, at least in terms of gameplay, and the release of Odyssey, Assassin’s Creed has gone deep in the RPG matter.

That’s not something which Ubisoft expects to leave anytime soon, as the series has now become a “major RPG brand”.

That’s according to CEO Yves Guillemot, who has shared the notion during the latest earnings call of the French publisher.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has indeed “exceeded [the company’s] expectations by every metric,” and this has convinced Ubisoft to jump onto the genre for the future.

As we’ve already reported, despite Ubi’s launching 3-4 AAA titles by March 2020, AC won’t receive new main games this year.

The franchise is getting Assassin’s Creed III Remastered as part of the Odyssey season pass and as a standalone release, which is bringing it for the first time on Nintendo Switch.

But, other than that, Odyssey will remain the full focus as of now and we’ll be getting new stuff around the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021, perhaps as a cross-gen title.

By that time, we’ll know we’ll be getting a “major RPG,” then. Are you ok with this new dimension of the saga?
