Recently, GameSpot had a chance to discuss A Way Out with game director Josef Fares and obtained a few interesting details that have never slipped before about gameplay, longevity, and possibly new versions.

According to Fares, it’ll take around 6-8 hours in order to complete the game. To give a proportion, he explained that, while Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons had been worked by a team of only 12 people, this time around they started with 10 devs but ramped up around 40 later in the process.

A Way Out Gameplay Length Is 6 To 8 Hours Long

He said he worked on the script as well, accompanied by a “script doctor.” Interestingly, he had already noted that he did all the stunts we’ll be seeing in the game, so he really is the star of A Way Out.

Fares also added that EA has been really supportive throughout the entire development process and that he had the freedom to refuse whatever they’d come to propose.

On top of that, as we’ve already reported, he said that Electronic Arts is helping with the publishing and marketing, but doesn’t get a single dollar out of it. He acknowledges that the company has its fair share of issues just like any other publishers in video games, though.

Talking about possible new versions of the title, Fares added that a Nintendo Switch edition of the game isn’t in the works, despite the previous EA Originals “Fe” has shipped successfully on the hybrid platform. “At least not yet”, GameSpot notes in its report of the chat.

A Way Out is releasing on March 23 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Set in the ’70s, the game focuses on the story of two convicts who are on the run after a prison escape. A Friends Pass will allow to play with a friend without requiring him to buy another copy.
