A surprise sequel got announced for the Nintendo Switch, and it’s a long-awaited follow-up that fans of Square Enix RPGs have been waiting for.

Bravely Default II has officially been confirmed with a new trailer, and it will arrive sometime in 2020 for the Nintendo Switch.

The game will revolve around a brand new world, as well as several additional Heroes of Light joining the fray. The official page for the game provided the following details:

  • A brand-new entry in Square Enix’s Bravely Series
  • Travel the world in search of the four Crystals with the latest incarnation of the brave band known as the Heroes of Light
  • The newest creation from Team Asano, creators of the Bravely series and Octopath Traveler
  • A new world filled with new characters, but with the atmosphere and excitement the Bravely series is known for

The game will feature music from Revo, who produced the original Bravely Default soundtrack.

The trailer for the game is available below. It doesn’t feature any gameplay just yet, but we get a quick look at the Heroes involved with the game — it’s sure to be a favorite for those that enjoyed the original game, as well as Octopath Traveler.

While we only saw a teaser for Bravely Default II, it does give us something to wait for in the future. It should make for a great Switch exclusive for next year.
