CD Projekt, the developers behind The Witcher 3 and the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077, held its bi-annual financial conference call with investors today, covering a wide range of topics during the 40-minute discussion, and they did revolve around the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077, set to release April 16, 2020.

A highlight of the discussion regarding Cyberpunk 2077 was the interest in next-generation consoles. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett, from Sony and Microsoft respectively, are set to come out sometime during the Holiday Season in 2020. We have limited knowledge about the release of these items, but CD Projekt is keen to note they’re ready or plan to be prepared to transition Cyberpunk 2077 to them further down the line.

The development team is closely watching how those consoles are coming along and, given the success of The Witcher 3 coming to nearly every console available, it would make sense CD Projekt followed the same trajectory with Cyberpunk 2077.

The team talked about monetization, and they leaned on how they handled it previously with The Witcher 3. When players had the chance to purchase anything for the game, they received a sizeable amount of content for what they paid for to add to the game, and transactions remained dedicated to DLC additions, not small in-game items or customization options. During The Witcher 3’s lifetime, CD Projekt provided its player base with several pieces of patches and in-game appearance options at no extra charge.

The topic of streaming had come up, and CD Projekt plans to release the game to the Stadia platform at a later date than when it officially launches. They do not plan to add it to Stadia’s subscription program, and will likely offer it for full price.

There were little to no details about Cyberpunk 2077‘s multiplayer, which will be separate from the main game itself. A different team is spearheading this, and no new details were shared.
