The news from the League of Legend‘s 10th-anniversary live stream continues to pour in tonight. There’s some good news for players who have been looking for an alternative to Blizzard’s Hearthstone, considering the recent events surrounding the company.

Tonight, the publisher announced Legends of Runeterra, a new card game that takes place within the LoL universe, featuring many existing characters. The roster won’t be as beefy as the main game. There are only 24 different characters across six regions in the game.

Like Hearthstone, players will collect cards and create a deck of custom characters to battle against others. There are several favorites, including Teemo, Fiora, Garen, and Draven, are coming to the game.

Various locations will be taken straight from LoL, including Demacia, Frelord, Piltover, Zaun, Ionia, the Shadow Isles, and Noxus. So it’ll be familiar territory to fans. When you play games in each region, you’ll earn additional cards.

Perhaps the most important thing with the game is that it won’t pound you with microtransactions. The developers confirmed that the game wouldn’t force you to buy random packs to unlock cards. Players only need to progress throughout each region to continue playing.

The game is just about ready to go into closed beta. And what’s more, the official website for Runeterra has begun taking pre-registrations. Those that are interested in giving the game a try should jump on this, as the beta will go live right after the live stream ends.

Who’s ready to play cards? We know a lot of you League fans are. The final game will release for PC and mobile in early 2020. Check out the breakdown video below!
