Quantic Dream has announced it’s going multi-platform, not renewing the exclusivity deal with Sony and selling a minority stake to Chinese outlet NetEase.

The French studio is willing to make its games “accessible to as many gamers as possible worldwide, regardless of the platform.”

“This is definitely a shift for us after 12 years developing exclusively for PlayStation,” studio co-founder Guillaume de Fondaumiere told VentureBeat.

“But at the same time we have developed engines on PC, Dreamcast, Xbox, PS2, PS3, PS4, and PS4 Pro. Thus, we are confident we can make a smooth transition while keeping the high level of quality that we target for our games.

We learned a lot working with PlayStation for so long, and we now want to bring these learning to other platforms.”

Quantic Dream is also hiring 100 staffers, which will bring the team up from the 200’s figure at the peak of the development on Detroit: Become Human to 300.

Detroit writer and studio co-founder David Cage has added that the software house is working on a new multi-platform engine and, while will keep doing what it’s famous for, will also be willing to explore “new grounds.”

“It is too early to reveal anything about our future projects. What I can say is that we are working on our next engine that will be cross- platform and even more impressive than anything we have done before.

We will keep working on projects that are ambitious and original, building on the genre we pioneered and that we will continue to develop, but we also want to explore new grounds.”

So, expect the next game from Quantic Dream to release on Xbox and PC as well, even though it’ll take some time.
