Too many idiots, whoops, gamers around the world, the fact that Battlefield V is introducing female playable characters across the main campaign and the multiplayer is a betrayal of the authenticity of the series.

DICE and Electronic Arts have provided interesting comments about this, explaining that the series hasn’t been trying to be authentic to the historical context it is going through for years, in the first place.

EA Responds To Battlefield V Female Soldier Controversy

Today, Patrick Soderlund, a chief creative officer at EA, says players who disagree with this position can do one simple thing: don’t buy the game at all when it releases later this year.

“We stand up for the cause because I think those people who don’t understand it, well, you have two choices: either accept it or don’t buy the game,” he told Gamasutra. “I’m fine with either or.”

Another interesting comment was given about the matter by lead designer Lars Gustavsson, who told The Verge that he was rather surprised by the backlash that happened among the community members lately.

“If I got a dollar for every interview I’ve been in through the years, where people challenged us about not having female soldiers, I would be a rich man,” he said. “So to finally be involved with this decision, it’s actually quite mindblowing.”
