Where to find Sea Shards in Windbound

Sea Shards are the most important resource in Windbound. Collecting these blue gems will allow you to activate Windbound’s towers, take on the Crossing trials at the end of each chapter, and offer blessings to the Sea Spirits for special, unbreakable items.
You can find Sea Shards at several places, but knowing where to find them is half of the battle. If you need a hand with locating these precious gems, let us provide you with some pointers.
The first and most obvious place to find Sea Shards is on top of the very Sea Shard towers that you need to activate. There are three towers to activate in each chapter, and they are scattered across procedurally generated islands in different playthroughs.
To get the Sea Shards, you must reach the top. These climbs aren’t difficult, but watch out for hidden gaps that will cause you to fall. Once you reach the summit, interact with the shell-shaped plinth in front of you to receive the Sea Shards.
The next place is on the path to each chapter’s Crossing challenge. If you have activated all three towers in a chapter, you can sail to these locations. As you head up the long staircase to reach each crossing, you need to interact with plinths to create bridges to the next area. Interacting with these plinths will net you more Sea Shards.
The third place to look for Sea Shards is blue vases. These are scattered on different islands. The most accessible place to find them is in destroyed human villages, gray structures with shell swirls on them. You will know you’re in the right place if the music changes, and you hear human chanting. Look inside each building for vases, and break them to get between five and 50 Sea Shards.
Vases can also be found on small islands. If you thoroughly explore each chapter, you will encounter small outcrops with two or three vases on them—land here to break them and nab some extra shards.
Finally, you might come across Sea Shard Shrines on your travels. These are dark gray stones with a blue gem at their center. Interact with them to earn shards.
