Sooner or later, as you explore the world in God of War, you will encounter a strange enemy inside one of the Hidden Chamber of Odins. The seemingly peaceful Valkyrie will awaken and most likely obliterate you if you step too close. Defeating this terrifying opponent is no easy feat and will require all of your skill, and the appropriately high enough level weapons and armor. Should you survive and defeat a Valkyrie, you’ll then be happy to know that you have to do it seven more times in order to complete the Prove Your Valor favor, which requires dispatching of all eight Corrupted Valkyries. Let’s have a look at why you should attempt this quest and where to find all Valkyrie fight locations.

Corrupted Valkyries are found inside the Hidden Chamber of Odins that are scattered across the realms. We’ve got a list of their locations as well as a guide on how to open them. Since you’ll likely be facing these Valkyries late in the game, you’ll hopefully have unlocked the Mystic Gateways so that you can easily visit each chamber. Perhaps the best piece of advice that I can give is to finish the main story. Don’t rush taking on these Corrupted Valkyries. They are extremely difficult fights and the reason for engaging them isn’t going to be as valuable until the end game.

Here is a detailed list of where each Valkyrie can be found:

  • Four Valkyries are found in four Hidden Chamber of Odins in the Midgard Realm: The River Pass, Foothills, The Mountain, and Thamur’s Corpse
  • One Valkyrie is found inside the Hidden Chamber of Odin in the Alfheim Realm at the Light Elf Outpost
  • One Valkyrie is found inside the Hidden Chamber of Odin in the Helheim Realm
  • One Valkyrie is found inside the Mists in the Niflheim Realm
  • One Valkyrie is found at the very top of the mountain after the arenas in the Muspelheim Realm

The other benefit of completing the main quest line is that upon its completion, all Corrupted Valkyrie fight locations will be shown on your map! You can also filter the map to show only Valkyries.

Corrupted Valkyries

Each Valkyrie employs slightly different tactics. Some will spawn seemingly endless waves of enemies while others boast near-unblockable attacks. Skill, cunning, patience, and probably a Resurrection Stone are required to defeat a Corrupted Valkyrie.

Should you do so, however, you will receive some extremely rare rewards, including Asgardian Steel, which is required to craft and upgrade some of the best legendary and epic armor.

The Prove Your Valor favor that requires you to defeat all eight Corrupted Valkyries is also quite an interesting quest. It boasts some pretty desired rewards and interesting lore along the way. Without giving away too much, you basically defeat the Valkyrie’s corporeal forms in order to free them and try to discover who or what imprisoned them inside the hidden chambers in the first place. Upon freeing each Valkyrie, you can place their trophy heads on their throne at the Council of Valkyries and learn a little bit more about these mythical Norse characters. It is definitely a very cool way to spend your time late in the game.
