What is Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s region called?

The new region in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is called the Paldea region. It is an area filled with open spaces, mountains, lakes, and wastelands. The layout of this new map lets players enjoy the region like they would in an open-world title much more than in previous mainline Pokémon games. The commitment to this open-world design seems to be an even bigger promise than the Sword and Shield and Legends: Arceus games, allowing for up to four-player cooperative play.

With this direction, the legendary Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon can be ridden all over the place, transforming to allow you to adapt to the situation. While you attend your school in this region, you will also take part in a large treasure hunt, which is also connected to the Terastallize transformation mechanic with your Pokémon.

The Paldea region is based on real-world Spain. The towns and cities, and the buildings contained within, are designed similarly to those that you would see in the real country. Game Freak generally chooses a real-world location and designs their new play space around that, so it is not surprising to see them do it again. Sword and Shield were based on Great Britain and before that, Sun and Moon took place in a Hawaiian-inspired region.
