The 2022 MLB season is officially over, meaning that it’s time to look ahead to next season. A new season also means the release of the next MLB The Show game, MLB The Show 23. The past few years have seen The Show arrive on Xbox and Nintendo consoles, and it’s fair to wonder what developer Sony San Diego has in store for 2023. So, when will MLB The Show 23 be released? Release date for MLB The Show 23
We needed to wait a bit into the winter in order to receive release date information for MLB The Show 23. Sony didn’t drop any information on The Show 23 until January 30, when SDS held a special livestream to announce the cover athlete and release date.
In addition to the unveil of Jazz Chisholm Jr. as the cover athlete, Sony San Diego confirmed that MLB The Show 23 will be dropped on March 28. As of this writing, we don’t know whether those who purchase a special edition of MLB The Show will receive early access. However, that has been the case in the past.
The release of The Show 23 falls in line with the dates for past games. Traditionally, MLB The Show games have been released either in March or April. The yearly releases usually come before the start of the MLB regular season, but there have been some exceptions to this rule. MLB The Show 21, for example, was released in late April. Although, that was the first title released for the current-generation of consoles.
This time around, MLB The Show 23 is set to be released two days before Opening Day 2023.
