The next hero for Marvel’s Avengers has been revealed, and it is none other than Captain America’s best pal Bucky Barnes. Bucky as the Winter Soldier was announced as the next playable hero in the August 2022 Development Update for the game. Winter Soldier will release with the Patch 2.7 update for the title, and fans will not have to wait long to try out the newest hero in the game.

Bucky Barnes release date in Marvel’s Avengers
The Winter Soldier will be part of update 2.7 for the title, releasing on November 29. Actor Scott Porter, who played the character in Lego Marvel’s Avengers, reprises the role of Bucky Barnes. The character will be a hybrid brawler and marksman Hero. Winter Soldier directly succeeds Jane Foster as Thor in the Avengers roster. Jane Foster’s inclusion in Marvel’s Avengers served as a tie-in to the Thor: Love and Thunder movie releasing in theaters.
Bucky’s storyline follows through the narrative set up in the No Rest for the Wicked Warzone. In No Rest for the Wicked, Scientist Supreme Monica attempted to revive M.O.D.O.K. to help destroy the Avengers. Update 2.7 continues the story with a new Cloning Lab Omega-Level Threat, which has the revived M.O.D.O.K. getting control of AIM’s Cloning Lab. Update 2.7 also continues the re-tuning of the roster that was first started in 2.6.
James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes is Steve Rogers’ best friend from World War II and served as his sidekick for most of the conflict. Steve believed Bucky sacrificed his life during the war but discovered that Bucky was saved and turned into the cold-blooded assassin known as the Winter Soldier. Thanks to brainwashing and constant hibernation, Bucky survives to the modern-day, where he reunites with Steve and regains control of his mind and body. The Winter Soldier became a fan-favorite Marvel character after his numerous appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where he’s played by actor Sebastian Stan.
