When does Overwatch 2 story mode release? Answered

For many people who love lore and the world of Overwatch, the biggest reason to look forward to Overwatch 2 was the exciting story mode. This and other PvE content has been promised for the game, which is about as exciting of a development as Overwatch has had since the beginning. However, while players are jumping into the free-to-play PvP multiplayer, the story mode and other PvE content won’t be available at launch. When can you expect to get your hands on the Overwatch 2 story mode?

When does Overwatch 2 PvE come out?
Overwatch 2’s PvE story mode and Hero Missions is set to release at some point in 2023. Unfortunately, we don’t have a more narrow window than that. Game Director Aaron Keller has said that the content will come out “gradually,” so don’t expect the entire start-to-end experience at one time. More will be added like with the PvP, although Blizzard are still “finalizing” how that content will be put out.
Due to the slow development of Overwatch 2’s PvE, and the multiple delays it has received since its announcement in 2019, Blizzard decided to separate the free-to-play PvP and get constant updates on that underway, which we have seen in recent months. Love it or hate it, Overwatch 2’s scope is much larger than the original game, casting a far reach with more narrative elements whenever this story releases.
We are big fans of Overwatch’s lore and story, so hopefully, we can get a new reveal on how that is looking and when to expect it by sooner rather than later.
