We are now into the summer months in the Northern Hemisphere, and that means a look towards the future of sports games. Traditionally, most yearly sports titles, such as FIFA, Madden, and NHL, launch in the fall, and the NBA 2K franchise is no exception. Basketball fans typically look towards the start of the summer for the first information regarding NBA 2K from Take-Two, but should we expect that again this year? Let’s take a look at what we know, and don’t know about NBA 2K22.

Typically, NBA 2K games drop at the beginning of September. Last year, the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC versions of NBA 2K21 released on September 4, and the next-gen version launched in conjunction with the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

This year, NBA 2K’s yearly game will once again launch in the month of September, and for the first time ever, both the old and next-gen versions will be released at the same time. NBA 2K22, which features Mavericks star Luka Doncic on the cover of the standard editions, is scheduled to be released worldwide on September 10, about a week later than NBA 2K21.

All editions will go live on September 10, per Take-Two, so no early access means that you’ll have to think hard as to whether you will get one of the standard editions, or one of the cross-gen bundles.
