We’ve been over the most interesting locations to check out in SCUM, but now we need to take a more practical approach. In order to survive, you need more adequate gear than just a couple of sharpened sticks and bag made of old clothes. But finding these items may just be an impossible feat if you don’t know where to look on SCUM’s massive 144x144km map.

SCUM Gear Guide - How To Get It Fast

If you’ve spent most of your time playing exploring towns and looting houses, you will probably find that the loot there is minimal at best. So where else is there to look? We’ve talked about the Airfield before, with its patrolling Mechs and high Puppet count, but there are also other alternatives.

The most dangerous areas are marked with the coloured stars, these are the major landmarks like the Airfield, the Dam, and the Trainyard. They are usually guarded by mechs and filled with zombies, but they are filled with good loot. When playing on multiplayer servers it’s best to approach these locations with utmost caution as hiding from zombies and mechs is one thing, but fighting off other players looking to get gear is another story.

Underground bunkers are another option to get geared up fast, but they are another location where stealth is your best friend as they are always guarded by a pair of murder robots. But once you get inside its a gold mine of weapons, armor and medical supplies. You can find these labelled as a yellow dot on the map above.

If you don’t quite have a handle on the sneaking mechanics of SCUM, you can always resort to Police Stations in towns that are marked on the map with a light blue dot. They aren’t as flush with sweet gear, but if you’re looking for a bit of firepower there is always a couple of Pistols, knives and police batons for you to swipe.

Lastly, you have Hunting camps which are marked on the map with a green dot. Like the police stations, aren’t as flush with gear as bunkers or landmarks but they still provide a decent amount of weapons and ammunition.

Strictly speaking, these locations aren’t the only places you can find good loot. Taking down a well-armed Puppet or stumbling across a lucky storage shed might give all the loot you want and need. So before you decide to skip over a nearby village on your way to the airfield, just think that lucky shed might be waiting for you there.
