The best Ganyu build in Genshin Impact

She hits hard.

Move over just about every other DPS character, Ganyu has arrived in Genshin Impact. The best description for her potential damage output at this moment in time would be “busted”, so make sure you are rolling on that Banner to try and get her.

Here element skill is called Trial of The Qilin. Ganyu dashes backward, leaving behind a single Ice Lotus that deals AoE Cryo damage. The Ice Lotus continuously taunts surrounding enemies, distracting them. The endurance of the Ice Lotus scaled with Ganyu’s Max HP, and it will bloom dramatically when it is destroyed, dealing AoE Cryo damage.

Her Elemental Burst, Celestial Shower, calls in a rain of Cyro damage covering a large area.

While Ganyu is a very respectable off-field Sub DPS, you definitely shouldn’t ignore the insane main DPS potential of this character.

Passives

  • Undivided Heart – After firing a Frostflake Arrow, the critical rate of subsequent Frostflake Arrows and their resulting bloom effect is increased by 20% for 5 seconds.
  • Harmony of Heaven and Earth – Characters within the radius of Celestial Shower gain a 20% Cryo DMG Bonus
  • Preserved for the Hunt – Refunds 15% of the ores used when crafting Bow type weapons.

Constellation

1Dew-DrinkerTaking DMG from a Charge Level 2 Frostflake Arrow or Frostflake Arrow Bloom decreases opponents’ Cryo RES by 15% for 6s. A hit regenerates 2 Energy for Ganyu. This effect can only occur once per Charge Level Frostflake Arrow, regardless if Frostflake Arrow itself or its Bloom hit the target.
2The AuspiciousTrail of the Qilin gains 1 additional charge.
3Cloud-StriderIncreases the Level of Celestial Shower by 3. The maximum upgrade level is 15.
4Westward SojournOpponents standing within the area of effect of Celestial Shower take increased DMG. This effect strengthens over time. Increased DMG taken begins at 5% and increases by 5% every 3 seconds, up to a maximum of 25%. The effect lingers for 3s after the opponent leaves the area of effect.
5The MercifulIncreases the Level of Trail of the Qilin by 3. The maximum upgrade level is 15.
6The ClementUsing Trail of the Qilin causes the next Frostflake Arrow shot within 30 seconds to not require charging.

Weapons

If you are planning on using Ganyu as your main DPS, and you probably should, then the Amos Bow is the way to go. This will increase your Charged Attack damage by 12%. You also get a bonus to damage for the time the arrow spends traveling through the air, adding even more lunacy to your damage output.

If you plan on going with a more Sub DPS role for Ganyu, then focusing more on Energy Recharge would make sense. You don’t need to worry about this as main DPS, as your bloom does so much damage you will collect energy with ease.

Artifact Sets

The new Blizzard Strayer set from the Peak of Vindagnyr Domain in Dragonspine is a great set for Ganyu. This will give a 15% bonus to Cryo damage at two pieces, and at four-pieces, it will give a 20% Crit Rate bonus when the character attacks an enemy afflicted with Cryo, and a further 20% Crit Rate bonus if they are Frozen.

While the Blizzard Strayer seems like an obvious choice, you also need to consider the Wanderer’s Troupe set. If you plan on using a lot of Aimed Shots, you should know that the Charged Attack bonus of 35% will apply to not just Ganyu’s fully charged aim shots, but also the bloom damage they do as well. This makes your damage output with Frostflake Arrow pretty insane.

We do want to experiement with some other sets, but for now neither of these will steer you wrong when it comes to damage output.
