NBA 2K21 (Next-Gen): All WNBA MyPlayer player types – Eligible positions, attributes, and more

On October 29, Take-Two unveiled its plans for WNBA content in NBA 2K21. Among those announcements was the launch of The W, which will give players a chance to hit the court as a WNBA player. Users will be able to experience what it is like to be a WNBA player both on and off the court, and players will be able to customize the look and the attributes of each avatar.

But to construct the ideal WNBA player, you’ll have to start by picking a player type. Each type has its advantages and weaknesses, and your character’s progression will be influenced by the one you select.

As for what player types will be in the next-gen version of NBA 2K21, here’s a breakdown of each:

NBA 2K21 WNBA MyPLAYER Types

2-Way Playmaker

• Eligible Positions – PG & SG
• Attributes – Good at ball-handling and passing. Good at defending the perimeter.

2-Way Point Forward

• Eligible Positions – SF & PF
• Attributes – Good at ball-handling and passing. Good at perimeter and interior defense (SF perimeter, PF interior)

Slashing Playmaker

• Eligible Positions – PG & SG
• Attributes – Good at ball-handling, passing and finishing near the rim.

Slashing Point Forward

• Eligible Positions – SF & PF
• Attributes – Good at ball-handling, passing and finishing near the rim.

Inside-Out Playmaker

• Eligible Positions – PG & SF
• Attributes – Good at 3’s, finishing inside, ball-handling and finishing near the rim.

Inside-Out Point Forward

• Eligible Positions – SF & PF
• Attributes – Good at 3’s, finishing inside, ball-handling and finishing near the rim.

2-Way Slasher

• Eligible Positions – PG, SG, & SF
• Attributes – Good perimeter defender who is also good at ball-handling and finishing near the rim.

2-Way Slashing Four

• Eligible Position – PF
• Attributes – Good perimeter/interior defender who is also good at ball-handling and finishing near the rim.

2-Way Slashing Five

• Eligible Position – C 
• Attributes – Good interior defender who is also good at ball-handling and finishing near the rim.

3&D Point

• Eligible Positions – PG, SG, & SF 
• Attributes – Good perimeter defender who is also good at shooting 3’s

3-Level Scorer

• Eligible Positions – All positions
• Attributes – Can score inside, mid-range, and beyond the arc.

Offensive Threat

• Eligible Positions – PG, SG, & SF
• Attributes – Good at all things offense – scoring inside, medium range and 3pt as well as ball-handling and passing.

Sharpshooter

• Eligible Positions – All positions
• Attributes – Great at shooting mid-range and 3’s.

Playmaking Shot Creator

• Eligible Positions – PG, SG, SF, & PF
• Attributes – Good at ball-handling, passing and shooting mid-range shots.

Post Scorer

• Eligible Positions – PF & C
• Attributes – Great at scoring with their back to the basket.

Lockdown Defender

• Eligible Positions – PG, SG, SF, & PF
• Attributes – Great all-around defender. The PG-SF are mostly perimeter. PF is mostly interior.

Defensive Anchor

• Eligible Positions – C
• Attributes – Great interior defender (blocks, interior defense).

Paint Beast

• Eligible Positions – SF, PF, & C
• Attributes – Good at scoring inside, interior defending and rebounding.

Player Progression, Badges, and Takeovers

Player progression in NBA 2K21’s WNBA MyPLAYER mode is pretty straight-forward. Perform well in games, and you will be able to upgrade your MyPLAYER character accordingly. Player performance and participating in off-season training activities will also affect how you can unlock Badges.

And as for Takeovers, you will also be able to use Primary and Secondary Takeovers, much like in the traditional MyPLAYER mode.
