At the moment, the game has not been confirmed for Xbox One, but this is something that creator Derek Yu is certainly open to. As soon as they get the game out on PC, it would seem that they will be looking at other platforms for a potential release.

Given the popularity of Spelunky, the success of the first game, and the fact that it launched on Xbox 360, it would appear that the game ending up on Xbox One is almost guaranteed. We honestly wouldn’t be surprised to see Microsoft make a move to have it as a Game Pass title if it does launch on the platform.

Frankly, given the pretty much guaranteed success of Spelunky 2, we expect it to end up on just about every platform, because it would be a crime if as many people did not get to play this wonderful game.

The only fly in the ointment might be the close relationship Spelunky 2 has had with PlayStation, down to a limited exclusivity on the PS4 before launching on PC. We will make sure to keep you updated with any future news about Spelunky 2 if and when Mossmouth makes any announcements.
