The Crown Tundra DLC for Pokémon Sword and Shield brings all manner of new content to the game: a new area to explore, new Pokémon to catch, and lots of new mechanics to figure out. Before any of that, you will need to actually start the new DLC.

First things first, make sure you own it. You will need to have purchased the Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass. And, if you are going to buy it today, keep in mind you will need to buy the correct version for your game, either Sword or Shield. Don’t get caught out by purchasing the wrong one.

Once you own the DLC, and the update has been downloaded, you will need to visit Wedgehurst Train Station again. Speak with the conductor just inside the door and you will be able to select “Crown Tundra” as a destination. After that, you will be hopping on a train and be on your way. The Crown Tundra DLC arrived with an update for Pokémon Home that provided integration between the app and Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Probably one of the main attractions of Crown Tundra are three Legendary Pokémon and a new system for catching them, so be sure to check out our guides on how to do just that. The new Dynamax Adventures will also attract a lot of players, but these tough challenges will definitely separate the weekend trainers from those who are gonna be the very best.
