Mods and custom content have been an integral part of The Sims franchise for quite a long time now. Mods in The Sims 4 work pretty much just like other games out there, adding various new features and gameplay modifications in the game.

On the other hand, Custom Content is a step back from mods and is used for more straightforward stuff like textures, objects, or hairstyles. Most of the custom content is cosmetic, while mods focus on significant things like fixing bugs and introducing features. If you are looking to install mods or custom content in The Sims 4, here is how to do it.

Whether you want to install mods or custom content, the procedure is pretty much the same. You need to install mods in the following directory:

Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods

Usually, you need to just copy-paste the mods in the above directory to install them. However, at times you might also need to extract a zipped folder. Check the mod creator’s instructions to figure out how to install the mod.

Once you have the mods installed, all you need to do is enable them. Here’s how to do it.

  • Step 1: Go to the Pause Menu by clicking Escape.
  • Step 2: Check Enable Custom Content and Mods under Game Options.

This should enable mods and custom content in The Sims 4. You can find the Custom Content in the My Library section of the Gallery.
