How to heal in Curse of the Dead Gods

Drink some blood.

Although your Corruption gauge is an important meter to keep your eye on, don’t forget your health gauge. Many enemies can inflict devastating damage, especially in the dark, and kill you quickly if you arent paying attention. However, there are ways to heal and increase your max health in Curse of the Dead Gods.

Relics

During your trips into the Curse of the Dead Gods’ dark temples, you will come across Relics, an item that has unique effects that benefit the player. Relics are obtained randomly through drops or as rewards for completing special rooms. The healing Relics will give you either lifesteal, increased maximum health, or a passive regen. However, if you are in dire need of some health, you can offer an item to the gods to restore a portion of your max health. This action will delete the item from your inventory, and you will lose its effects.

Blood Fountains

Blood Fountains are the most effective way to heal yourself, but they come at a price. Blood Fountains are special zones found randomly on the Area Map and are marked as Healing. You can activate these Blood Fountains to heal yourself for a specific amount. You can use the fountain as many times as you please, but you will be inflicted with corruption each time you heal.

Attribute bonuses

Like many roguelikes, in Curse of the Dead Gods, you purchase permanent upgrades to your character outside of runs. You can also find unusual shrines in temples that temporarily increase certain attributes. T’amok’s gift, for example, will increase your max health or provide you a healing effect. You will need to offer gold or blood to complete this transaction, however.
