How to claim Sea of Thieves Twitch Drops (Season 8)

Score some free swag for Sea of Thieves.

Every season of Sea of Thieves comes with waves (pun intended) of Twitch Drops, allowing players to claim cosmetics for their pirate character and ships. It’s a great way to support content creators for the game and earn items and equipment that you otherwise cannot unlock. While some of these cosmetic drops may return in the future, most Sea of Thieves Twitch Drops are one and done. If you’re looking to spiffy up your pirate look, here’s how Twitch Drops work in Sea of Thieves.

The first thing that you need to do is link your Sea of Thieves account to your Twitch account. You can do this by logging in with your Microsoft account on the official Twitch drops page on the Sea of Thieves website and clicking on the Twitch Link Account option. The same page will also display the current or upcoming set of rewards.

How to claim Twitch Rewards for Sea of Thieves

Like with Twitch rewards for any game, you’ll need to watch the Twitch stream of any partnered streamers to claim your in-game items. The easiest way to find these streamers is through Twitch’s own directory of partner streamers, with the Drops Enabled tag attached.

Prior to Season 7, players would have to log onto Twitch several days in a row to unlock multiple items from the same cosmetic set; for example, the first wave of Season 6 had you watch 20 minutes of a stream on Friday to unlock the Twilight Hunter Blunderbuss, and you’d do the same on Saturday for the Twilight Hunter Cutlass, and so on.

Starting with Season 7 of Sea of Thieves, players can watch streams on any day(s) within the Twitch Drop period of four days, earning one item per hour. Therefore, you can leave a stream playing for three hours on any day to earn all three rewards of the Twitch Drop. Keep in mind that you have to claim a reward before your viewing counts towards the next reward.

The first wave of Season 8 will allow players to unlock additional Rising Morningstar clothes (Captain Gloves, Dress, Dress Hat, Dress Jacket) for their pirate; the set has been unavailable since prior Twitch Drops celebrating Halloween and Thanksgiving of 2020.
