How to get Original Resin in Genshin Impact

Passive gains.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

You will more than likely first learn about Original Resin in Genshin Impact the first time you come across a Ley Line Blossom or Abyssal Domain. It’s a very important resource and is actually one of the main time-gating mechanics in the game.

You use Original Resin after you have cleared a Ley Line Blossom or an Abyssal Domain, and for some boss fights, to get your rewards from that activity. If you have no Original Resin you will not be able to claim rewards, although you will still be able to take part in the activity.

All the different activities have different costs to claim the rewards:

  • Abyssal Domains – 20 Original Resin
  • Ley Line Blossoms – 20 Original Resin
  • Weekly Bosses – 60 Original Resin

How to get Original Resin

Original Resin is actually gained passively. You will earn one Original Resin every 8 minutes, which will cap out at 120 Original Resin. It will take 16 hours to passively go from zero Original Resin to 120 Original Resin. You can also use Fragile Resin, earned by ranking up your Adventure Rank, to earn 60 Original Resin, but this will not allow you to go over the 120 cap. You can also spend Primogems, the game’s premium currency, to gain 60 Original Resin up to six times a day, although at an increasing cost each time.

  • First time – 50 Primogems
  • Second time – 100 Primogems
  • Third time – 100 Primogems
  • Fourth time – 150 Primogems
  • Fifth time – 200 Primogems
  • Sixth time – 200 Primogems

As you can see, this limits the amount of high reward activities you can do in the game, and is one of the main mechanics where the game is trying to push microtransactions.
