How Strategies work in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes

Prepare for battle and give your side the greatest edge possible to secure victory.

A major battle in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes will feature Strategies, a unique feature to give your side an edge during the conflict. You can only use it during significant battles in a chapter, and they use a critical resource known as Strategy Resources, which you can obtain before reaching that point. Here’s what you need to know about how Strategies work in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes.

How to use Strategies and how to use them

You can visit the Strategy screen before a chapter battle in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. Here, there will be a list of opportunities you can choose to initiate during the engagement. These Strategies may give your side direct support, such as making enemy strongholds weaker or allowing one of your main characters to start in enemy territory. A Strategy can happen at the beginning of the battle and be passive, or it can activate in the middle of the fight.

One of the significant decisions you can make on the Strategies screen is to recruit enemy generals, the main characters featured in the other houses. For example, as the Golden Deer house, we had the chance to persuade Linhardt to join our side, unlocking them as a playable character and expanding our roster. Usually, Linhardt is exclusively available while playing as the Black Eagles house.

When the Strategy to persuade Linhardt was ready, a small icon appeared on our screen, and we had to initiate it. Picking a Strategy at the start of the battle is important, but making sure to select to activate a Strategy and pursue it as the primary mission is critical to see it through.

You will want to ensure you acquire enough Strategy Resources before a chapter battle, which means conquering small territories. However, you may not always want to do this, as you can gain additional Renown at the end of a chapter for capturing fewer regions.

You can only have access to these Strategies during the larger conflicts. For those looking to unlock as many characters as possible and add them to your side, you will want to work through as many side quests and regions as possible before entering the final battle for a chapter.
