Pokémon Go is changing things up with the new introduction of seasons, which follow along with the world’s real seasons. These will bring about new Pokémon, new eggs, and new Mega-Evolved Pokémon with each rotation.
All of the seasons will happen alongside the actual ones of spring, summer, autumn, and winter and will occur every three months. These are all of the changes happening in the upcoming Pokémon Go seasons.
Each season has new Pokémon spawns
You can expect to see new Pokémon spawning in your area based on what type of year. Some Pokémon will be easier to find depending on what season it is, so you’ll want to catch a particular Pokémon during a specific time of the year before they become more difficult. It will also vary on what hemisphere you live in. For example, the first season to occur in Pokémon Go will be winter, so you can expect to see less spawns revolving around Burmy, Darumaku, and other Fire-types and summer-related Pokémon if you live in the northern hemisphere. Still, these Pokémon will appear in the southern hemisphere more often.
Mega Pokémon changes in seasons
Based on the season, players can expect to see different Mega Pokémon available at the raids. This fits with Mega Venusaurs earlier retreat away towards the end of October and fits with new Pokémon taking its place. We’ll likely see new, heavier rotations as more Mega Pokémon are introduced to Pokémon Go.
Pokémon Go Battle League goes to rank 24
It’s official that the start of seasons also expands the Pokémon Go battle league, and it will now contain 24 ranks rather than 10. The top four ranks will be receiving brand new names and have badges representing those changes. Because of the expanding rank process, the Pokémon Go battle league will be happening on a seasonal basis, so it may take players longer to work their way through it, but there’s plenty of time for them to play.
The first season in Pokémon Go, winter, kicks off on December 1 with the new event’s arrival, A Season of Celebration. There will be several in-game events with Pokémon featured from all different regions and a new one, the Kalos area.
