XCOM 2 Collection is out now on Nintendo Switch. Owners of Nintendo’s hybrid console can finally try to fight back against the invading alien hordes and reclaim Earth, and it might take you a while to do so. With the compilation now available to buy on the Switch, we’re guessing that you’ll want to know how many hours you’ll need to sink into it. Whether you’re a completionist or someone who just wants to beat the main campaign, we’ve got you covered.
How many hours will I need to complete XCOM 2 Collection on Nintendo Switch?
It’ll take different amounts of time, depending on how engrossed you get with XCOM 2 Collection. As we said, some of you will want to achieve 100% completion, while others will be happy just playing through the story. Let’s look at the main game first. XCOM 2 will take you around 32 hours to beat if you stick rigidly to its missions. If you look into all of the extras that XCOM 2 has to offer — and achieve 100% completion — you could sink up to 72 hours into it. There really is that much to do.
XCOM 2 Collection also comes packaged with the War of the Chosen expansion. This DLC will be even longer than the main game for some users. The story can be beaten in 38 hours if you fly through its campaign, while completionists can have everything boxed off in about 68 hours. Put together, progressing through XCOM 2‘s and War of the Chosen’s campaigns will take 70 hours to beat. Those who want to immerse themselves fully in its world, though, will need to set aside a whopping 140 hours. If you achieved 100% completion without taking a break — we’re not advising that though as it’s important to eat and sleep — you’d need six days to beat XCOM 2 Collection.
Firaxis’ RTS title also comes with four DLC packs, but these are cosmetics only and have no bearing on playtime. Just don’t take too long deciding what you kit your soldiers out in if you don’t want to add more hours to the time it’ll take to beat the game.
