Discard abilities allow specific characters to gain an advantage whenever a card is removed from your hand. Builds that focus on this ability type typically include Apocalypse because his skill can only work by being discarded first. Whenever Apocalypse is removed from your hand, he gets placed back immediately but with an additional +4 Power.

Cards that work well with him include both Sword Master and Lady Sif, as their skills make you discard a card from your hand once they’re put in play.
