Genshin Impact Waterborne Poetry Event Guide: Challenges & Start Requirements
The Waterborne Poetry event in Genshin Impact is rewarding, fun, and wholesome, and a great way to stock up on Primogems.
The Genshin Impact events keep coming, and now Waterborne Poetry is upon us, bringing creativity to Genshin combat and some fun mini-games that go off the game’s beaten path. It’s one of the more rewarding events recently that isn’t directly part of the game’s third anniversary, with hundreds of Primogems up for grabs. All of the new activities in Waterborne Poetry are relatively easy, but if you want every reward, you’ll need to invest a bit in your characters and the ability to create elemental reactions. Here’s how it all works.
How to Start the Waterborne Poetry Event and What You Get
Note: The event is still unfolding, and we’ll be updating this article with new
To begin the Waterborne Poetry event, you’ll need to reach Adventure Rank 20 and complete the Archon Quest “Song of the Dragon and Freedom.” Afterward, head to Wangshu Inn in Liyue and speak with Venti and Hu Tao. They’ll explain the nations of Mondstadt and Liyue are co-hosting a poetry festival, and they’ll invite you along.
From there, travel to the Stone Gate Teleport Waypoint north of Wangshu Inn to meet with many of the allies you (may have) made over the course of your adventures in Genshin. After speaking with them and beginning the festival in earnest, you’ll head back to Wangshu to start the gameplay portion of the event.
There are three unique games to play during Waterborne Poetry: Hundred-Pace Hurling Rites (it’s a version of darts), Inspiration Eruption (a neat combat challenge), and Mending Painting Prospets (a set of “complete the picture” puzzles). Each of them has multiple stages that unlock over multiple days during the event, and each day comes with its own reward tiers.

How to Complete Each Event Challenge in Waterborne Poetry
The challenges during the Waterborne Poetry event aren’t too tricky, but we’ll go over how to do each here, regardless.
How to Complete Hundred-Pace Hurling Rites
- Stage I: Simply break every pot. Be sure to use the Sleight Pots that allow you to continuously fire darts. Use the golden Rings of Rites to increase your point value as well.
- Stage II: This stage adds red, exploding pots. Use them whenever they appear. There are also pots that move side to side, though these are less important to break. Always use the golden Rings of RItes to increase your score.
- Stage III: This stage adds pots that consume other pots, robbing you of points from lost pots. Whenever you see a consuming pot, destroy it. Use explosive pots liberally.
- Stage IV: This stage adds pots that teleport about the arena once hit and take three hits to destroy. Scoring is a bit tighter here, so be sure to use exploding pots whenever possible.
- Stage V: This stage is timed rather than being limited by a number of pots. Reaching the score threshold is easy so long as you destroy a pot every second or so.
How to Complete Inspiration Eruptoin
- Stage I: Be sure you have a team that can create Vaporize, Frozen, and Electro-Charged reactions. Pairing any Hydro character, even Barbara, with a character like Lisa or preferably a Fischl/Xingqiu combination, plus a fire damage character like Xiangling. Always use the Rupture mechanic on the Mythic Nexus to maximize points and save time. Group enemies together for easy AoE kills.
- Stage II: The scoring here was much tighter (or it was for me), and the challenge revolves around charged attacks. Use a character that benefits from such things like Tighnari, Gonyu, and Yanfei, etc. You’ll also want to be sure to use the crystal burst to take out the Nexus enemies.
- Stage III: This stage is all about Anemo damage, particularly the Swirl elemental reaction. If you have a character like Venti or Kazuha, getting to the score cap should be a sinch. Lynette is also a good choice. I had none of these, so the scoring was very tight.
- Stage IV: Dendro is your element of choice here, so any units that can activate Bloom, Hyberbloom, or Burgeon work wonderfully. Dendro MC is a fantastic option if you lack other Dendro characters, as is Collei. If you have Kokomi or Yelan, they work great, as do Kuki and Fischl for Hyperbloom activation.
How to Complete Mending Prospects
- Stage I: Go to the Mondstadt Cathedral, the Dawn Winery, and Stormterror’s Lair, interact with the viewpoint there (marked by the brushes on the map), then assemble the image at each location. As you search for each piece of the painting, watch for a pulsing yellow ring to appear. When it does, you’re close enough to the proper placement, and you can press the Use key to automatically finish that part of the image.
- Stage II: Go to the Luhua Pool for two of the viewpoints. The first is west of the small lake and you’ll be putting together the image of the statues guarding the gate. Another is on the cliffs to the south, and you’ll be constructing the image of the Domain ruins. The final one is further to the west in Tianqiu Valley, and you’ll be putting together the image of the ruined castles there.
- Stage III: The first painting is just north of Stone Gate, facing the waterfall. The second is south of Lingju Pass, with the viewpoint being west across the water from the Teleport Waypoint, facing the large, orange-leafed tree. For the third, travel to the domain in Guili Plains and head west to the edge fo the ruins, then face the mountain.
- Stage IV: The first painting is right next to the Teleport Waypoint in the east of Stormterror’s Domain, looking at the city of Mondstadt. The next is just north of Liyue Harbor, looking at the same. The last is just north and above the Temple of the Wolf domain in MOndstadt, atop a ruined bridge. It looks over the water. Unlike all the others, you’ll need to look all around you to find all the missing portions of the painting.
