Final Fantasy XIV is the biggest MMO in the world, but it got that way by standing on the shoulders of giants, as FF11 was the first MMO entry in the series. People can still play FF11 to this day, but it’s noticeably janky and challenging to play, especially when compared to Final Fantasy XIV. Still, the old MMO has many fans, with new content slowly being released into Vana’diel.

Final Fantasy XIV’s Echoes Of Vana’Diel Alliance Raid Details

Square Enix announced the Echoes of Vana’diel crossover event during the 2023 Final Fantasy XIV London Fan Festival. Unfortunately, this was just an announcement, with more focus on Dawntrail’s upcoming new content.

What is Echoes Of Vana’Diel Release Date?

We know that Echoes of Vana’diel will be released after Dawntrail. If it follows the pattern of the other Alliance Raids, then it will gradually be released in pieces as part of patch updates. Dawntrail is set to launch in 2024, so fans shouldn’t expect to play any FF11 crossover content until next year at the earliest. These missions will involve groups of 24 Level 100 characters working together to face a new threat to Eorzea.

What’s Inside the Echoes of Vana’Diel Content?

While Naoki Yoshida was tight-lipped about the content in Echoes of Vana’diel, he did mention that it will feature familiar characters from FF11. This means there’s a good chance that people like Shantatto and Prishe will appear, especially as they’re the most famous faces from the game, having appeared in the Dissidia fighting game series.

It will be interesting to see if Final Fantasy XIV players will visit Vana’diel in the expansion and if FF11 follows suit by featuring a crossover of its own, with a low-fi trip to Eorzea. This will give FF11 some much-needed love and attention from the wider fanbase, who have missed out on the chance to experience its world in the past and can finally visit its shores through their Warrior of Light.
