As such, players are striving to obtain any possible detail up until the June 19 release, and of course, we’re here to help with new information.

While storyline particulars are tiny, at least if you didn’t fall in any of the spoilers around, there’s something precious we can tell you – how big is The Last of Us Part II in terms of file size.

Naughty Dog’s latest major game is finally upon us, and as such, with the title reaching the PlayStation Store shores, we get to grab details like how much free space it will take to have it on your PS4.

A screenshot on PS4 sub-reddit has revealed that users will be required with having 78GB of free space on their hard disk when the newest The Last of Us releases in less than one month.

It’s not a small download but, considering that open-world games this gen such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and triple-A in the vein of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone are going for more than 100GB, we guess you can do just fine with this.

While we don’t have details yet, you can expect to be downloading a day one patch that could make your download a little bigger come June 19.

This amount of gigabytes should be indicative of the overall size, if not exact, as it could include that patch or that patch could not be released at all, though.

How big are previous PS4 games from Naughty Dog?

The Last of Us Part II will be set in a vast sandbox, and while not being entirely open world, it’ll be the biggest and most ambitious Naughty Dog title ever.

It’s interesting to look at other games from the studio to see how they performed in terms of overall size, even though only two of them were natively launched for PS4.

The previous and currently sole entry in the franchise, The Last of Us Remastered, weighs in at 39.05GB. It’s a more linear experience, and a remaster of a PS3 game, so this is why it’s so different from its follow-up size – which almost doubles it.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, a compilation of the first three Uncharted games curated by remastering maestros Bluepoint Games, weighs 44.59GB.

Finally, the only two native current-gen games from the Santa Monica label, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, have released respectively at 62.41GB and 48.87GB.

It looks like there’s a reason why The Last of Us Part II is considered the biggest game from Naughty Dog, then, and the file size is here to confirm that – until reviews come in on June 12, at least.
