What will the plot be about?

As the name suggests, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League focuses on Amanda Waller’s journey to take down the Justice League. Waller is a high-ranking government official who works with superheroes and other people with powers, and she is often a gray character, not necessarily good or evil. As in other iterations of Suicide Squad, Waller gathers a number of expendable supervillains to form Task Force X.

Characters include Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and King Shark, all under the purview of Waller. Superman is the first Justice League “alpha” target, as seen in the reveal trailer. He doesn’t look so benevolent this time around, seeing how he straight-up murders a defenseless person in the reveal trailer. Braniac also appears to have a presence in the story, with observers speculating that Superman is under his mind control.

Rocksteady’s game will take place in the same universe as the Batman: Arkham series, unlike Gotham Knights.

What will the gameplay be like?

The game is a “hybrid” between the Batman: Arkham melee gameplay from Rocksteady’s previous works with some gunplay. With the game a year or two away from release, DC and Rocksteady didn’t show off any real-time gameplay, but the reveal trailer showed off some of the unique skillsets of Task Force X.

Harley Quinn, along with her usual method of bashing dudes with a baseball bat, has a grappling hook equipped for extra mobility. Deadshot will have some verticality with the help of a jetpack. Captain Boomerang almost looks like Tracer from Overwatch, teleporting around the field with his trusty boomerangs. And King Shark is, well, a shark, but he also has a minigun, which is pretty neat.

Naturally, players will be able to squad up. Rocksteady confirmed that single-player and four-player multiplayer will both be in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. In single-player, players can switch between the different characters.

What platforms will it release on?

The game will release only on next-gen consoles: PC, Xbox Series X, and PS5.

When will the game release?

The DC FanDome event revealed that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is aiming for a 2022 release.
