Enter the Rouge

The Rouge is a reimagining of the Diablo I version. She uses both ranged and melee weapons and highlights top-notch mobility out on the battlefield. With this class, you’ll enjoy numerous customization options, both visual and gameplay — including the ability to specialize your Rouge into one of three gameplay altering paths: Combo Points, Shadow Realm, or Exploit Weakness.

Rouge’s will also have a system to develop their attacks with either Poison, Shadow, or Frost. For instance, the Rouge’s attack Rain of Arrows showcases a completely different experience depending on which element it’s been infused with. The Rouge is quite comparable to the Demon Hunter in Diablo III.

Player vs Player combat

The details about PvP mode were also a popular topic of discussion. PvP mode has been highly requested from the Diablo community for quite some time now. For Diablo IV, there will be PvP zones scattered across the world of Sanctuary called Fields of Hated. They’re optional locations where players can choose to enter and either duke it out with fellow players, take on monsters, or participate in exclusive events. PvP zones reward Shards of Hatred, resources that must be purified into currency, which is then spent on armor, weapons, mounts, and other items.

Open-world improvements

The thrill of exploration in Diablo IV was particularly highlighted by the devs in preparation for speaking on the subject of open-world improvements. Mounts, camps, and world movements were the three main areas of focus.

Mounts

Various horse mount styles, collections, and alterations will be up-for-grabs in Diablo IV. Progressing through the game, including completing puzzles, discovering hidden locations, or defeating certain enemies, can net you various mount customizations suited to your horse. Additionally, horseback will be an excellent source of transportation. In short, horses will be fully customizable, so you’ll be darting around the world of Sanctuary in style.

Camps

Camps are strongholds of evil, scattered across the world. Over the years, monsters have infiltrated them, and it’s up to you to reclaim them back for the people of Sanctuary. By defeating one of these camps, you essentially unlock the area, creating a brand new waypoint of accessibility and an additional way to achieve in-game progression.

World movement

In Diablo IV, an emphasis is put on the accessibility of the world, enabling players to experiment with various methods in reaching specific locations. This may include jumping over cliffs or scaling rocky mountainsides to get somewhere hidden. You’ll have to think about where you’re going and use some creativity in the process.

When can we expect to get our hands on Diablo IV? Don’t hold your breath for a 2021 release. It’s possible, but a 2022 release date — or even 2023 — is more likely.
