Trading Pokémon with other players in Pokémon Go is a great way to track down some more elusive encounters you might have missed while playing the mobile game. Not every Pokémon spawns in the wild, and many of them are restricted to special events, such as Meltan. Meltan is a rare mythical Pokémon that appears every so often in the game, but not too frequently. If you miss out on finding this Pokémon, can you trade Meltan to other players in Pokémon Go?
Does Meltan work in trades for Pokémon Go?
We can confirm that Meltan will not be a Pokémon you can trade to other players, or receive from another, in Pokémon Go. Meltan is a mythical Pokémon, and those are unavailable for any form of trade to another player. This has been issued in the game for a good amount of time and continues to remain the same answer whenever Meltan spawns in Pokémon Go. Unfortunately, the only way to catch Meltan is to find it on your own, which is typically through Mystery Boxes.

It can be a little frustrating to be unable to find Meltan, especially given the limited times it can appear in Pokémon Go. The difficulty behind finding Meltan is likely because of how powerful its evolved form, Melmetal, is in PvP and can be in battles against Team Rocket or other Pokémon raids. Typically, players have several days to earn a mystery box before Meltan disappears, and it might appear again sometime later in the same year. The method should remain the same, though, which might require you to make a profile on Pokémon Home to send one of your Pokémon over.
